My friends page is lonely. Where my livejournal homies at?
In other news, I splurged on a gorgeous long red wool Worthington coat during my lunch break... it was on sale at JCPenney for $99, down from $250. To be fair, my credit card splurged.. but you get the gist. It looks just like the coat worn by the prime minister's girlfriend in "Love Actually". I have a feeling I'll be walking around leaping into random men's arms, kissing them and going, "Oh shut your face." :D
Speaking of men, I have a double date tonight with Ryan and a friend of his. Its not quite what I had in mind when I asked him for a special dinner night between us in celebration of my Associates and of Christmas... but I'm going to get all dressed up regardless and attempt to put on a good show. (Hence the splurge on the coat.) We're going to Yamamoto's for dinner and then who knows where after that.. though I've been promised that it'd just be him and I after food. I'm hoping for some Christmas light viewing, maybe a movie.. and dragging him to the grocery store for me to grab stuff to make zucchini bread with tomorrow night. ... I hope he wears his sexy wool coat as well. I'll demand a pic be taken of the two of us if so.
As for Christmas in general.. I finished shopping in 1.5 nights... but of course now have a ton of wrapping to do. I've spent way too much on my new credit card, but thats because I've ran out of money in my checking til I get paid tomorrow. These are bad things considering I just paid off all of my credit card debt! .. But at least this card is low interest and its only on one. VA Credit Union should be very happy to have me as a new client. Sheesh..
Family drama is up to its usual hijinx. I spent last night over at my brother's place after I finished the last little bit of shopping.. he went out with his friend Jeff to do some shopping while I watched the kids. Spent 30 minutes talking with Tamyako about a non-wiping issue she's having. Carried both the twins to bed when it was time and made a big show of tucking them in and giving them kisses and hugs. I don't think they get alot of that, so I try to fill in for a non-existent mom when I'm around. Also organized the girls' closet a bit more with the introduction of a shoe hanging rack and gave Tamyako a pink tote to start keeping all of her kitchen toys in to separate them from the rest of the junk all over their living room. Plus moved some furniture with the help of May'yendah so we could free up the dining room to be used on Friday. Also did some dishes and then finally passed out on my parent's bed for 20 minutes til Chris got back. Of course all of this helping out was spurred on by the hell of a guilt trip my mom laid on me because she wasn't able to come down and help my brother do his last minute xmas shopping which he was having anxiety attacks over going out alone in the crowds. *sigh* I have trouble relating with this sort of stress. I ALWAYS shop last minute and I always do it alone.. and I LIKE it. I just have never gotten severely stressed over xmas shopping like so many other people do. I don't take gift requests so I'm not driving myself crazy trying to hunt down some specific thing. I think wish lists are more hassle than they're worth, personally.
Anyway, I'm hoping to see Ben & Heather and their girls early Friday afternoon while we have xmas dinner.. then I'll be free that evening to do whatever. Saturday's going to be spent with Brandon and JJ and friends. Saturday night is Marie's birthday dinner at Olive Garden. Sunday is free as of yet. I'm hoping to get lots of steamedwords time in while she's home. As for Christmas Eve.. I think I'll spend it wrapping and cooking bread.. but I'll also run by my brother's house to give the kids an early present of new sheets and bedding so they can sleep on them that night before Christmas morning. That was my big splurge on them. I hope they're satisfied with the other little things I nabbed them that they can open the next day.
So thats the game plan of this week... the only other bit of news to write down here is that of course I've finished my Associates and have a final gpa of 3.52!! Which means I'll have the "Magna Cum Laude" seal on my diploma that should be mailed to my parent's house sometime next month. :-) 2010 will be filled with volunteering, weight loss, and gearing up to start at VCU next Fall. Thats of course if they accept me.. Also hoping to really push towards finding a new better job now that I have half of my education completed. Keep your fingers crossed for me, folks! :-)
... But yeah, enough for now. Hope to see more people posting soon! I feel like Facebook is sort of disconnecting us more than connecting us. But I assume I'll keep using this site as long as its around mainly for my personal record of my life. There are nearly 10 years of adventures already stored away on here. I almost wish I could print them all out one day to have as a book. (subtracting any silly posts that are just about sharing links or internet memes.)
Next post to work on for me will be the annual year in review.. but also I think a decade in review is also in order.
